Reid's Hydrotherapy Pool

At just five years old, Reid has already faced more challenges than most of us could imagine. Diagnosed with stage 4 glioblastoma, an aggressive form of brain cancer, Reid suffered a brain injury that left him with severe spastic quadriplegic cerebral palsy.

Until just one week before his diagnosis, Reid was a happy, healthy baby, meeting all his milestones. Then, almost overnight, everything changed. What followed were extensive surgeries, chemotherapy, epilepsy and countless days spent in hospital. Today, Reid requires around-the-clock care and is supported by 11 specialist teams at Perth Children's Hospital.

Despite everything he's been through, Reid has found his greatest happiness outdoors. But with limited wheelchair-accessible spaces, he often has to watch other children play from the sidelines, missing out on the simple joys of childhood.

When the Build Now Foundation heard Reid's story, we knew we wanted to give him something truly special. Thanks to the incredible generosity of the Western Australian community and the support of Telethon, we were able to build Reid his very own hydrotherapy pool at home.

For Reid, this is so much more than a pool. The warm water provides a safe, supportive environment where he can experience freedom of movement, helping to ease muscle stiffness, relieve discomfort and support his ongoing therapy. More importantly, it gives Reid the chance to enjoy the water, have fun and create beautiful memories with his family.

Thanks to everyone who made this possible, Reid now has his own special place right outside his door, bringing comfort, freedom and joy to a little boy who deserves every opportunity to experience the happiness of childhood.
