In August 2023, Delphi, a vibrant 9-year-old, was faced with an unimaginable challenge. She was diagnosed with Medulloblastoma, a malignant brain tumor that required urgent surgery. While the operation was necessary to remove the tumor, it tragically resulted in an acute brain injury. This injury left Delphi unable to walk, talk, or move for 12 long weeks. Over time, she has slowly regained some movement, but she now relies on a wheelchair and faces the daunting task of relearning to walk, speak, and use her limbs.
Delphi's brain injury specifically affected her brainstem, the area responsible for controlling movement and coordination. Though her personality, thoughts, and memories remain untouched, her ability to direct her body’s movements has been severely compromised. This situation has been incredibly tough for Delphi and her family, as she now needs constant care for everyday tasks such as eating, dressing, and moving. The road to recovery is long, and while there is hope that she will regain more independence, Delphi is looking at years of intense rehabilitation.
Recognising the critical role that hydrotherapy can play in her recovery, the Build Now Foundation, has committed to providing Delphi with a specialised hydrotherapy pool. This pool will offer her the best possible chance to regain her mobility. Hydrotherapy is a key component in helping her rebuild strength and coordination, but access to such facilities has been limited. By bringing this essential resource directly to Delphi, we aim to give her every opportunity to continue her fight and work towards walking again.

Dear Stephen, You are such an Angel - truly.
I cannot highly enough praise the Build Now Foundation! We are so grateful to this WA charity and to all the sponsors who contributed to complete this project. It has warmed our hearts so much to see the effectiveness of community coming together. The Build Now team have far exceeded our expectations with how fast the project rolled out, and the scale and expertise which they handled the project. Stephen and his team have changed my daughter's recovery trajectory so significantly and bought true joy to her daily life. Everyone on the team was so sweet and inclusive and genuine with Delphi and such a sense of love and encouragement and team effort was part of every interaction. Seeing dozens and dozens of the smiling Build Now team arrive to help build Delphi's pool is something she will always remember to lift her spirit.
The hydrotherapy pool allows Delphi to work on her strength, balance, and co-ordination, plus gives the whole family a fun way to spend time together. Instead of a 3 hour round trip for Hydrotherapy, which would be exhausting for everyone, we have it right here in our backyard.
