Ava's Playground

Ava is a 5 year old girl living with leukaemia, diagnosed shortly after her third birthday. What began as a normal day for her family quickly turned into a life-changing moment, when they were told she had cancer and would begin immediate treatment.

Before her diagnosis, Ava was a bright, loving little girl, full of energy and joy. Her parents describe her as their “sunshine girl,” always smiling and bringing happiness to those around her. But since her diagnosis, much of that carefree childhood has been interrupted by hospital visits, treatment, and the realities of living with a serious illness.

Ava’s condition means her immune system is often extremely low, placing her at high risk of infection. Because of this, everyday activities most families take for granted are no longer possible. Public playgrounds, sandpits, and busy community spaces are unsafe, leaving Ava and her siblings unable to play freely outside the home.

Since returning home between treatments, Ava simply wants to be a child again. Spending time outside with her younger twin brothers, Harry and Harvey, is something she loves, but without a safe and suitable space, those moments are limited.

Her family dreams of a secure, clean, and accessible backyard where all three children can play together safely. A purpose-built play area would give Ava the freedom to enjoy the outdoors, reduce the risk of infection, and allow her and her brothers to experience the simple joy of being kids.

After everything Ava has been through, a space like this would bring comfort, happiness, and a sense of normal life back to their family.

Your support can help create a safe and life-changing space for Ava and her family.
